If you've never taken part in a facilitated dialogue session, the process may seem unfamiliar. Here's a simple explanation of what generally happens and what participants can expect.

Facilitated Dialogue is structured yet flexible. It is designed to be collaborative, informal, and confidential, unlike the rigid protocol of a courtroom.

1. Joint Opening Session

The facilitator introduces the guidelines, explains confidentiality, and invites each party to share their perspective without interruption.

2. Private Caucuses

The facilitator meets with each party individually to discuss sensitive concerns, evaluate proposals, and explore settlement options confidentially.

3. Formulating Options and Settlement

Once realistic options emerge, the facilitator brings the parties together to finalize and draft a mutually acceptable written settlement agreement.
